We entered the National Park $15 entry fee but well worth it) and sat outside on the rear balcony. We ordered our meals at the bar and sat back and enjoyed the plethora of wildlife. So many kangaroos jumping around. Birds flying over head and chirping all around us. The meals came out quickly and was great and well priced pub food. The staff were also extra friendly. Will definitely be back.
I have been going to John Forest for 25 years, starting out as my local spot. It used to be a place where I would enjoy a Sunday afternoon beer and a game of pool with my Dad. I have introduced many of my friends to this charming yet slightly neglected bar in the National Park. During our last visit, my family and I met up with friends at the Pechey Rd car park and walked to John Forest. We ordered food and drinks totaling $74.90. When I went to pay, the eftpos machine initially showed a failed transaction, so I had to tap my card again. The beer was cold and the food was decent, though the portions were on the smaller side. A few days later, I noticed that both transactions had gone through on my statement. I contacted John Forest to inform them of the error, and the person I spoke with was friendly and recognized me and the double charge. I was told that the manager, Megan, would need to get in touch with me to arrange a refund. Despite making 6 phone calls and leaving messages with various staff members, I am still waiting for the $74.90 refund. The service, or lack thereof, has been very disappointing. Recommendation: Bring cash to avoid any payment issues.
Traditional pub fare, generous and a good standard. Very nice people. Sit out on verandah for a lovely view over Park. Go often to walk, followed by lunch. Would love to go on roast night.

Well to have to pay $15 to go to this venue is a joke should have left after seeing the front off the place the whole place is that run down its a joke the wide life is good but one would think the bird and kangaroo poo would be clean up on a weekly basis there were old disused tables cardboard posters full off dust in plain view with bird poo all over them the rest rooms were disgusting the food was disgraceful could not eat it and as said by a someone else reviewing here very basic menu ie how do you serve a pie as hard as a rock and cold soggy chips with a less than cold beer to call this place a tourist attraction is embarrassing to say the least
