"Really good benne dosa. I thought this place is all hype like CTR or Vidyarthi Bhavan. But I was wrong, this is actually really good benne dosa. Worth the visit. We belted 20 dosa in one sitting. Trick is to have a plain dosa and then enjoy the benne dosa so you know the difference in taste. Price is good but seating is a bit of a Hassel during lunch hour."

"In Davanagere, you will find restaurants and stalls that serve benne dosa in every nook corner. And each of these restaurants claim that they are the benne dosa pioneers and that only they serve the ‘original’ benne dosa! But that distinction belongs to one Mahadevappa Benne Dosa Hotel which first started way back in the year 1928 It is still in operation today the 3rd generation is running it. Mr Ravi, son of Mr Mahadevappa (who learnt the recipe First from his mother Chennamma) now runs this Hotel hence its called by his name now. Benne Masala dosas were actually cooked in Raagi (finger millet) Flour in the beginning! A decade later in 1938 the present avatar of Rice Flour cooked Benne Masale Dose came into being and still in existence to this day! Till the 1970s a single khali (plain) dosa was getting retailed at 10 a benne (butter) dosa was getting retailed at 40 paise each The place is little crammed no frills. You can feel the aroma of dosas getting prepared in your nostrils which is hypnotic and makes your latent hunger within, come to the fore! They have many variations of dosas which you can hog on. Prices are still very competitive when you compare them to metro tier 1 City pricing! Over all a very good and paisa vasool experience indeed Join our food journey. "This is about Apoorva restaurant near the new bus stand. Its quite near to highway. One has to enter the city, and avoid the bypass. More of South Indian. Nice thali meals, both South and North, especially North Indian. South Indian is not bad. Very moderately priced. South Indian thali at 120. North Indian for 155. Only thing, the famous _Davangere benne dose was not available at 12 pm. Ambience very good. Nice sitting arrangement. Adequate parking. Recommended."
