What User doesn't like about The Smugglers Inn:
Where do I start?,me and my partner recently visited as we were on holiday and friends and family recommended this pub, on arrival we were welcomed by very friendly staff ,although we hadn’t booked we had the option of a see view table or one at the back of the restaurant, when ordering drinks we were told we couldn’t order food for another 30 minutes which was fine ,even when the time came we were told straight away... "Owners rude and arrogant! And you can't trust them and they won't make your order right by simply saying too busy to make it right! I called to make a booking but said no tables available, but I could order for the departure so that I order two gluten-free pizzas. I also asked what size the gluten-free pizza crust are and was said 11”. I was told I had to wait an hour for 30 minutes and I agreed. I ordered the gluten-free 11 “ crust as recommended for an olive tree and a Garlicky . When I arrived, I asked the person with the pizzas to confirm the gluten-free pizzas. She looked worried and said they were not gluten-free. I asked the other girl if I had to wait another 1.5 hours, and she said they'd wipe out my pizza. The owner came by and said he had two vegan pizzas for 20:30 and I said that's not what I ordered. He said he was too busy to remake the pizzas. He said the girl who took the order said she didn't remember being ordered gluten-free. As Celiac these are the first words from my mouth when I order every food and I also asked the size of gluten-free crust and often they are prefabricated and sealed and I was said they are 11”. He wouldn't take back the pizzas, as he said he had to trust his staff. So he implies that the customer lies and uses it as an excuse to not make it right. It does not apologise to make the pizza right, as ordered gluten-free as I was told a few minutes earlier. I assured him I ordered both pizzas gluten-free and my wife came in and also confirmed how she heard I order on the phone. I notice that this pizza must be well made and popular, but not to remake the pizzas and implicit me a liar and refuse to remake them is unprofessional. I find his behavior arrogant, rude and unprofessional and just because he went to Italy to learn how to make pizza doesn't make him a good owner and manager. Hopefully he won't blow out this review, but learn from it. Always do it right for your customers! And never insult your customers! It also suggests he doesn't care about his customers because he's too busy. He just goes away and repeats that he has to trust his employees. Bad excuse not to make pizza as ordered! Staff can make mistakes and as Coeliac I will also double check how I came to get the pizzas. I would advise Coeliacs not to try these pizzas because you cannot trust them to make them your order. Peace be with you!"

"Lovely little coffee shop on a somewhat run down Torquay street, so this little gem comes as a surprise. Good coffee for the coffee junkie, had a very tasty lemon drizzle cake, and range of different seating including comfy armchairs. Very friendly and homely service and atmosphere."
