Deidesheim is one of the most beautiful places and on the very quiet because not traveling city square there is this very beautiful ice cream. the interior is ... functional and is dominated by the big treses where the tasty ice is hidden. to the happiness seems always the sun in deidesheim;) and so one can take on one of the many but unfortunately often insufficient tables out among the trees. the ice cream is very delicious, coffee, hot chocolate, all super without reaching high quality. for this the prices for deidesheim are quite ok and the service is actually always friendly though regularly somewhat revised. but under the trees or optionally in the sun it can be held for longer without problems. We are actually there at least once in the month.
My wife and I were here a couple of times. The first time, we were wandering around the town center and found it by chance. Mostly everyone was seated outside on this hot summer's day, and we took advantage of an empty table and had a couple of tall, frosty beers which lots of other people seemed to be enjoying. The second time, we wanted a late lunch, and there were no free tables so we had to eat inside. There, it was hot and stuffy even though an open back door drew a slight breeze. We ordered baguette sandwiches, a salami and cheese for me and a cheese and tomato for my wife. I again had a beer. The food was just enough to sate our appetites, but we opted for some desserts. We each had what they call "eiscafe" and what I would call a sorbet or ice cream sundae. There is a 5 page colorful menu (unfortunately not on-linie) of possible concoctions. Each one more decadent than the next. One of us had a mango-fruit-ice cream sundae, and the other one I forget. all I know is that they were delicious, and we had to skip dinner!
