This restaurant is out of place, in the best of ways; all others on the block were loud and oddly the same. It has the charm of an old neighborhood Italian restaurant. Our food was delicious, specifically, the mushroom ravioli, beyond compare and the eggplant parm pretty good too. A simple Caesar salad was as it should have been but tasted like the quality of handmade dressing rather than a food chain.. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Il Contadino:
One of the worst dining experiences in a very long time. The owner was the only server for the entire restaurant. No other waiters, no busboys, and certainly no host/hostess to seat you. By my count, at least 10 diners left after being seated with no service available. Our entrees finally came out after nearly 1 1/2 hrs ! All 4 entrees were room temperature at best. We all suspected the dishes were pre-prepared durin... View all feedback.
My husband and I originally planned to dine at the restaurant next door, but the music and ambiance of Il Contadino drew us in. Our experience with Michael, who was the sole person working as waiter, chef, and owner, was fantastic. It was a peaceful escape from the busy city. The food was delicious, the wine selection was impressive, and the restaurant had an authentic New York Italian feel. I have no complaints at all.
Truly one of the best dining experiences I've had in years. The food is outstanding, the atmosphere is authentic, and the owner went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed everything (even making off-menu items like a veggie platter). It felt like dining in Arthur Ave in the Bronx, New York. They have a vast selection of wines, and the owner is incredibly knowledgeable. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic Italian dining experience.
Authentic Italian, amazing wines and atmosphere. Michael, the owner, is so accommodating and will customize an event for occasions. Who does table side anymore? He will for special occasions! Classy, quiet and fantastic.
Absolutely Fabulous! Michael (the owner) stayed open late for us, and blew us away with homemade pastas and traditional Italian dishes like only a grandmother can make. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and delicious and made with a care that shows he loves his work. This is a restaurant not to miss if you like Italian food and you are anywhere in South Florida! Buonissimo!
The food is delicious and the views are amazing. I always order the calamari and it never disappoints.
