Contribute Feedback What Heffaklump doesn't like about The Crown:
We decided to have lunch at a pub-style restaurant. We ordered hamburgers and lamb from the Sunday menu. Unfortunately, we had to wait a considerable amount of time before our food arrived. We were all disappointed with our meals. The burgers lacked flavor and the lamb was particularly awful. The lamb consisted of dry slices of meat, overcooked vegetables, gravy, and mashed potatoes all haphazardly thrown together on... View all feedback.
We enjoyed our stay at The Crown. The hosts were friendly and the rooms clean and comfortable with everything we needed. The breakfast was good as well. Thank you.
We stayed here for 2 nights. Lovely room just needs heating in room, hot water and an extractor fan in the bathroom as mold is forming in the top of the shower as there is no window. Breakfast was help yourself no much options on the cooked section. Bar and restaurant I don't believe there was one, as everything was closed down. Beautiful town lots to see.
Not sure where to start, the night before we paid half the price for triple the service, arrived to ring the bell then a member of staff arrived, dark but understandable for an 18th century coaching inn, no food, no chef, no drink empty bar, was advised private parking at the back of the establishment for 5 cars but 12 rooms, only accessible via the fire exit, incredibly steep steps, shower was very temperamental, the sink was so tiny my husband struggled to have a shave and the toilet was so tiny. The only plus point bed was comfortable, Breakfast, were do I start, buffet style cold bacon, beans and eggs no side plates for toast as that's what you eat your breakfast, pointless complaining I'm not sure they understood what I was saying, reading other reviews they have had no chef for a year so looks like nothing chances. I would pay £40/£50 a night that's what it's worth.
Stayed over night for work purposes and had breakfast included. The room was tiny with silverfish in the bathroom. They had turned the heating off and the room was baltic. The next morning we had breakfast which was a self serve. Only problem is they had only set out 2 sausages, 2 bacon, one egg and 2 hash browns. No choice in the amount you could have so they may aswell have made the plate themselves. Coffee we were only able to have one small mug with breakfast I like my coffee. Overall very disappointed
Let's start by saying this Hotel bears no resemblance at all to the reviews. When you first pull up to this very grey old looking place you start to realise you may have made a mistake, you then find the car park which is really a derelict bit of land with a Hotel Car Park sign on it. Then you find your way to the reception! maybe not. The made a mistake starts to get stronger...Book in then the fun starts, up a very very steep narrow staircase that is in desperate need of modernisation. Up another flight of equally dilapidated stairs to the Room 8, now I'm not very tall but I still had to duck under the beams to move around, the shower was just to the left of the bed, absolutely no privacy at all and the toilet was the other end of the room looked more like a store cupboard..!!Remember the mistake it's now reached full strength....In its favour it looked clean and tidy but unsuitable to stay in...Asked to move rooms and happily we were moved to Room 3 a much much better room..Later came the game changer, around 6 pm the room was getting cold, phoned reception to ask when the heating came on....Well to cut a long story short, then asked for a refund which was done, later a charge was made against my credit card because we left the room in a mess but that matter is with my card provider...So I will never go to this Hotel again you'll have to make your own mind up.
