My family and I have dined at Poppies four times now, and the food and atmosphere are unbeatable. It’s a cozy restaurant with excellent service and cleanliness. There are many dining options in the Denver area, but I believe Poppies will be here for a long time. I highly recommend it for any occasion. Enjoy! View all feedback.
What James Penny doesn't like about Poppies:
We have been dining at this restaurant for over 40 years. Since my family lives in Loveland and I’m based in Colorado Springs, we often gather there for special occasions. Sadly, we have never felt welcomed, despite being generous tippers and enjoying leisurely conversations. Haven't been here in years, but the return visit was perfect. Arrive before 6 to take advantage of happy hour ... $2 off on a glass of wine, half price for the bottle! There are specials every day, and today's crusted sole with rice was fantastic. Be sure to save some room for the dessert. We had the bread pudding. The place is low key, lots of regulars and locals. Service was attentive but not intrusive, and the background music of famliar music of the 60s and 70s was soft enough that we didn't have to shout across the table.
Poppy's is a great place to good classic comfort food! We really appreciate that they have a very nice outdoor dining set up, even though we chose to eat indoors. The menu was extensive with lots of Classics including beef stroganoff, specialty hamburgers, shrimp scampi, prime rib and beef sandwiches, and lots of healthy salads to choose from. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and our food was served piping hot and very quickly. I give Poppies Restaurant on Colorado Boulevard five stars!
I've been eating here since 1999. I do not have any pictures because when it comes out it smells and looks delicious. I'm going to try and add the pictures next time I go. This time I came specifically for their French fries and ranch dressing. I had a lemonade and the bartender took care of me. Great atmosphere. I had a mask to be cautious but wasn't required. Until next time.
We had a wonderful dinner at Poppies. Everyone had something different and we really enjoyed everything. The prime rib, rib roast and stroganoff were among the favorites. Desserts were very small but tasted delicious. Service seemed a little rushed from what we are guessing was from being short staffed but none the less it will not stop us from coming back here. Loved the “old school” vibe in this place.

On my sister's 73rd birthday, I requested a small treat for her, but the waitress outright refused. I even wrote a letter to the owner about our experience, but he chose not to respond. Additionally, I was informed that my Visa card may have been compromised, raising concerns about our visits there. I would advise against going to this restaurant!
