The Red Lion must be the best looking pub in Bakewell. There are two separate but good sized bars, both with fabulous old beams on sloping ceilings. The floors are stone and the bars have nice stained glass panel work above them. Both bars also have real fires so we were cosy and comfortable as we enjoyed decent beers and nice service. What Kate G doesn't like about The Red Lion:
Nice pub, dissapppinted with the food. Ordered the chicken burger with skin on fries for £11.95. Waited 40 minutes and was underwhelmed when it arrived, a very boring not full plate. Got normal chips and a brioche with the chicken, a piece of lettuce and a little garlic mayo. The lack of any salad or coleslaw garnish meant it was very dry.
