Stopped in for a quick drink before a show at the civic center. This is a fancy joint located in Savory hotel. There seemed to be a lot of construction/maybe flooding going on, there were parts that were blocked off and a lot of heavy duty fans going. Service was insanely slow. I'm sitting here, 30 minutes after finishing my dinner with an empty glass and the (tiny) expensive meal is finished. No one has come by to check on anything. $42 for a drink and some chicken on rice? Never again. Update: 50 minutes now, and after asking twice for my check, the bartender has forgotten again. Amazing atmosphere the bartender, Kim was PHENOMENAL! The best bartender I've ever had in Des Moines. She made awesome drinks made us feel so welcome. Can't wait to come back bring a crowd!
My wife and I stopped here after a play at the Civic Center. We ordered an appetizer and cocktails. Our appetizer was cranberry and tomato bruschetta and it was delicious. I had the Patron tequila daisy while my wife ordered coffee with amaretto. The daisy was described as an upscale margarita and the description fit. My wife's coffee was more like an espresso with a flavor that overwhelmed the amaretto. Our server seemed very knowledgeable about the drinks and appetizers.
Great bartender, friendly and personable. Lovely looking lounge to sit back and enjoy some cocktails with friends.
Quite enjoyed my dinner. Had the salmon, and a few cocktails. Both were very good. The salmon was cooked nicely and not the least bit dry, but not what I 'd call seared . Mushrooms were an interesting pairing. Think I 'd have liked asparagus with it more, but that 's me.The Moscow Muel was very good. Fresh, and not overpowering.Smoked old fashioned was different, but enjoyable.
