Never judge a book by its cover. Drove by this restaurant hundreds of times going to see my girlfriend who lived off 6 mile by the cemetery. Never once did I ever give it a thought to stop in and try the food. 50 years later, while picking up paczki's at sweetheart bakery on Kelly and seven mile, I finally took a chance to check it off my bucket list. Steak Burger in a Hotdog Bun ? Best you ever had Been eating them over 50 yrs.
Whats not to love? This is the home of the original Marcus burger. It 's historic, it 's independently owned, and okay it 's in an industrial area. I checked the map, and noticed that Detroit is (still)an industrial town, so par for the course .The Marcus burger is the item to get. The soup is good too. The waitress was friendly and attentive. I went on a Saturday. They might get a lunch crowd on weekdays from local businesses. IDK.Its worth visiting at least once, just so you can say you had a real Marcus burger. If you like 'em, you 'll go back.
Shady neighborhood excellent food. Parking: Close to the door.
This should be a chain across the whole world... I've been going here for years and there's something magical about a burger dog.... always the same....always worth the trip.... two thumbs
Marcus Hamburgers has been around since 1929, and yet it is a recent find for me, what a gem! Old school dining room, good food, great prices and friendly staff makes this a great little spot.
