Lovely pub to go for a meal, the food was very good . We had to wait quite a while for it but it was a very busy Saturday night. You need to book in advance for Saturdays. View all feedback.
What Keith Mason doesn't like about Eagle Child:
Rude bar staff for no reason I was polite and courteous must of been my face normally I have no problems here made me feel worse about myself as I already do as she was extremely rude View all feedback.
My husband and I visited the Eagle and Child for dinner on Saturday evening. We ordered drinks and were seated at a small table near the door. My husband went to the bar to order a jacket potato for me, as well as garlic mushrooms and a steak and kidney pudding. When our food arrived, my husband discovered a piece of a blue glove in his meal. We informed the staff and they quickly removed our food, including mine as I felt nauseous. They returned to our table and gave my husband £20.20 as compensation. We left without finishing our drinks, feeling sick and disappointed. I emailed The Eagle and Child but received no apology. It was a disgusting experience and we will not be returning.
I absolutely adore this restaurant and their beer selection. After shopping with my wife, we decided to stop in for a drink. I enjoyed a couple pints of Black Sheep beer while my wife savored a perfectly chilled glass of white wine. This village pub is well-maintained and has a charming atmosphere. A perfect spot for a relaxing evening out.

We stopped by around 2 pm on a Sunday afternoon hoping to have Sunday lunch. Despite all the tables being reserved, we were offered seats in the bar area if we could find one. Luckily, a table for two was just opening up. The friendly girl behind the bar warmly greeted us and the atmosphere was great overall. I enjoyed a couple of glasses of Pinot while my husband had a pint of Black Sheep. We both decided on Sunday lunch, although there were other menu options available. I chose the lamb and my husband had the beef, both dishes were generously portioned and delicious home-cooked meals. The carrot and swede combination was particularly tasty. The homemade Yorkshire puddings were flavorful and substantial. We were too full to have dessert, although there were many options to choose from. It was refreshing to have a Sunday lunch that wasn't pre-made and microwaved, and the prices were reasonable. It was definitely good value for money and we look forward to returning in the future.
