The smell of food lured me in from the street.. this cafe opened in the 1930’s and had kept its charm. Staff were lovely on arrival. Food is so tasty, just basic but done well. We came back two days in a row. Coffee is done right and the milkshakes are old style nostalgia!!! Doggy friendly cafe. Will be back, thank you!! View all feedback.
What Chelsea M R R doesn't like about Broadway Cafe:
My partner and I went to the restaurant today and sat at a table where we could see five young girls working. Despite there being only three other tables in the cafe, none of the staff acknowledged our presence because they were too busy laughing and chatting on their phones. Not good . Cheesy chips with a sprinkle of cheese and I really mean a sprinkle, chips were not good, the scampi I think was Young's frozen that you would get in the supermarket, wooden cutlery and the cup of tea has to be the worst cup of tea ever experienced,a distinct hint of bleach absolutely awful. Highlight of the banquet was the bread n butter. Definitely could not recommend and will definitely avoid next time in Newcastle.
Great wee place, all plates where cleared! Great portions fresh food served to us, friendly and clean! We will be back again when we go to Newcastle

I recently left a review on Google, but I feel the need to share my experience here as well. My husband and I decided to have lunch at this restaurant in Newcastle. Despite the town being busy, the restaurant was quite empty so we decided to give it a try. My husband had fond memories of dining here as a child and spoke highly of it, so we had high hopes. We inquired about the menu and were told that the goujons came with chips, so we ordered them. The restaurant had a slightly outdated decor but appeared clean. Our food arrived in a takeaway box, with my portion being overly hot and almost burning my tongue, while my husband's was just lukewarm. The portion consisted of four goujons, of which half were crunchy, along with chips, fresh salad, and a small pot of mayo. When my husband went to pay, he was ignored and had to call me over to receive the bill. To our surprise, the price for the goujons had increased from 4.75 to 7.95, and we were informed that the chips were not actually included in the meal, despite being told otherwise. Overall, we felt that the quality of the food did not justify the price we paid, and I am now experiencing digestive issues as a result of our meal.

We waited for someone to give us a menu or offer us a drink, but after waiting for 10 minutes without any attention, we decided to leave. The staff continued talking to each other and looking at their phones, and the only acknowledgment we received was one of them telling another to clear our table as we were leaving, even though we never had the chance to order anything. The service was awful, and I will probably never consider visiting this place again because of it.
