"Visited Wednesday 17th May (closed Monday/Tuesday) to find that it was only open for take-away meals. The restaurant is due to open in July. However, we were invited inside to have a look. Much to our surprise, we were told that we could dine in the restaurant as we had travelled a long way, but I think it had something to do with my charming partner also being from Hong Kong. We had a very enjoyable meal served personally by the proprietors wife and enjoyed talking with her. The food is first class and I have no hesitation in saying that if you like Chinese food and are in Stranraer, then the Hong Kong City Restaurant is a must."

"Fabulous needed food before she was on the boat in cairnryan and knew that there were many places in stranraer. I went to checkpoints and knew that this would be good and safe. beautiful decoration and tables with distance. the workers were busy as they explained, there were only two on the floor, but we did not notice how they were polite and attentive. my nakedby and my son got the cattleburger and were really happy. I don't eat meat, and I eat fish very rarely, but I chose the broken squid and it was delicious, with chips and a nice piece salat with honey scavenging dressing. it is a mainly Italian restaurant so much to choose. I have discussed this place as we will be back in any case"

"What a beautiful place this is to be and to stay... We were here during our trip through the uk. The hotel is very beautiful with nice old furniture and paintings and art. Rooms are neat and clean and full of tartan. For us the attic, where we stayed, was a bit low, because we are tall! But in the rooms it was OK. Breakfast is very good served by a nice lady with good advice to spend the day. It is a pitty, that there is no dinner served here. The place used to do this and the kitchen is organized to do so. There is also a very nice pub inside, not used!!! We would have loved to have dinner here and have some drinks. Or to sit in the beautiful garden. Now we had to go elsewhere for that, not necessary in my opinion...I think it is a loss for the people in the neighbourhood as well, as there is nothing like it close by. Not a problem in summer maybe, but in winter?! We suggest to open the full function of the hotel again to make it a meeting point for the people around."
