"On the way to the Balnakeil beach, we kept short here and brought us hot chocolate and brownies. Both very delicious and recommended! I found the atmosphere less inviting. Inside, it had an uncomfortable factor, so we set ourselves out. It's a good stop for between, but no more."

"Frances, Hugh and staff are so very welcoming and lovely.. gorgeous people.. . went above and beyond to offer a good range of vegan mains and desserts. They even gave us red velvet cakes to take away. So thoughtful. A gem in the North. Updated from previous review on 2023-09-26"

"We ate here 3 times during our stay in Scourie and found it utterly delightful. The chef is superb and very creative, she blends traditional Scottish fare with a taste of Eastern Europe and is a great forager, using produce from the hedgerows and garden. The black pudding with sauerkraut was truly excellent, and the venison was the best either of us remember eating. Ever. The cheeseboard is good with lots of local cheese and home made rhubarb chutney. The restaurant manger is friendly and efficient and both of them are very self effacing about the excellent business they run here. My father tipped them off that it was our wedding anniversary one evening so they put a lovely bowl of roses from the garden on the table for us. It's unlicensed with no corkage charge, the village shop has a good selection of wines. It's only small so make sure you book, and if you do book, please turn up!"

"Staying at a cottage a two minute walk away so we walked down to book an evening meal for 4 adults and 5 children. Sour faced woman behind the desk said no chance. I 'd suggest a little training in welcoming people to a place where the majority of your business will come from the tourist industry. Perhaps offering an alternative evening or even suggesting somewhere else. I 'm all for supporting local business as I do in my own pretty remote hometown but the Deliverance welcome is a bit off putting. Didn 't stay long enough to notice any banjo 's propped in the corner! Looking at the dilapidated state of the premises it seems to me you need every penny you can get. As qualified roofer I could have sorted the missing northwest corner of the roof for the price of a decent meal."
