Situated on the main shopping street this is a large, rambling pub. It has a fairly spacious restaurant offering traditional pub food and a locals bar with Sky TV View all feedback.
What Beththatch doesn't like about Black Horse Inn:
We went in for a few drinks a potentially look at lunch but it looks run down and filthy! We stayed for one drink but it felt so grubby, it was literally falling apart. The floor had duct tape down in several places, other area were patched up with MDF and others just showed an exposed foam like floor???! The floor was just exposed concrete, it was like we went in during a renovation but in checking the other reviews... View all feedback.
Not much of a atmosphere for a pub but the food was delicious all our food was very tasty best bit of chicken I have had staff were very good and friendly
I often pop in here for drinks when out in town! Great music, great service and a fun crowd of people! Also very accessible!
Very unhelpful staff. Popped in to see if there was a table free, to be told ‘yes, I haven’t got time to clean it yet as I am very busy’. Needless to say, I said ‘don’t put yourself out on my account’ and walked straight out.
We visited Sidmouth and found this great pub. Anton the barman was extremely friendly and welcoming. The pub was well set up during Covid. every precaution was taken to make people feel safe. The toilets were easily accessible and very clean. If we visit Sidmouth again we hope to revisit the pub, we had booked meals elsewhere before arrival but would definitely eat here. I sincerely hope they survive these difficult times.
Nice dog friendly place with nice staff and a reasonably priced menu. So overall well recommended, however, I will not be revisiting as waiting over 45 minutes after ordering for the food to be served, only simple orders jacket potatoes and salad, is just not acceptable.
