"We've been in Cafe Velo twice and both times have had a warm welcome and very nice food. This time I had the club sandwich which was huge and had egg in it, which I've not had before in a club sandwich but which was great. Helen had the toasted tuna cheese melt and Oscar had ham and cheese toastie. You can tell the ingredients are high quality and it's all put together well. The owner seems to talk to a lot of the customers and cares that people have had a good experience. Price is reasonable. Little more than a greasy spoon but well worth it."

"I'd heard great things about this coffee shop so persuaded my friend to give it a try for our lunch. It was full and there were people waiting outside when we arrived. Rather than it putting us off and try elsewhere we thought if it's that good then we'll go back in an hour. So glad we did, we had a great welcome, a lovely big mug of coffee, the best toasties ever tasted with homemade coleslaw and salad, chips and a massive slice of homemade cake (had to bring it home, as full). The decor and friendly staff added to our very enjoyable visit and we will certainly visit again. Highly recommend and fully support independent businesses that care about you and their staff"

"This is a sweet little restaurant in Hull that we visited by chance! Although our initial idea was to eat out and have our usual Indian meal, we were surprised to find ourselves enjoying Polish meals instead. Beetroot soup of the day was excellent and we discovered polish beers are so crispy and tasty. A worthy visit for adventurous food lovers!"

"We booked for a table of 14 for half 6 and sadly didn’t receive the food till about half 8, although it was amazing and the waitress was working very hard to cater for our large group. But because we had booked, we had expected service to be quicker as they knew we would be coming. They did give us a discount by removing one of the meals for the long wait. Overall, the food was really lovely but the wait was just a bit too long."
