What carolinengary doesn't like about The Plough Inn:
I stayed at the hotel for one night and found the room to be impeccable. The room also had tea and coffee facilities. I had a delicious meal at the restaurant that evening and enjoyed a continental breakfast the next morning. Mrs. Chau was very friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived, and she was extremely accommodating. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel or simply dining at the restaurant. We, a group of four, stayed at this lovely bed and breakfast for 2 nights during the week to visit family, and it was absolutely fantastic! The owners, Mr. and Mrs. Chu, were delightful and provided us with a warm and friendly reception. The rooms were comfortable and easily accessible from the car park. We especially enjoyed the continental breakfast with a variety of healthy options and delicious local Yorkshire bread. There was plenty of space to park as well. We also dined at the Mr. Chu Chinese restaurant and the food was excellent. Overall, we all had a wonderful stay and would definitely return when in the area. Highly recommended! Truly a hidden gem.
We stayed at this restaurant on our way to the York Christmas market. Mrs. Chu is amazing, from check-in to check-out she is very attentive. The food in the restaurant is some of the best Chinese food we have ever had. The room was spotless, and the whole place is spotless too. The continental breakfast was lovely, all of good quality. They clearly work very hard and it shows. We will definitely be returning in the new year.
We'd driven past a few times but had never stopped, so took a bit of a gamble in booking a room. We stayed in room 4. There was not one thing we could find fault with in the room. Excellent facilities, loads of storage space and lots of nice touches like biscuits and andrex toilet rolls. Room was nice and warm and well decorated with a comfy bed. Great bathroom also. We had a drink at the bar, very friendly staff and bar area immaculately clean. We went through to the restaurant and found it clean and spacious. A good choice of food so we went for the banquet for two which failed to disappoint as each course was delightful, very flavoursome, hot and fresh. We ended the night with a drink at the bar and a chat with the delightful host, then returned to the room for a great night's sleep. The double glazing was brilliant as despite being just off a main road there was minimal traffic noise. Definitely recommend this hidden gem.
