still a Japanese vancouver that I discover only today, formerly occupied by dan who left. A quasi-family, friendly and casual welcome. The dishes of a finesse, a subtlety to discover. Good food. However, the service is atrocious. First few dishes arrived reasonably, but as the place filled up, service not just slowed, but stopped. Some dishes we ordered were completely forgotten. Reminding the waitress about them did not help. Eventually we have up and cancelled a missing dish. If the place is more than half full, go elsewhere. In summer, the front is fully open, allowing fresh air to come in. This... View all feedback.

This is by far the best and most authentic Japanese restaurants in Vancouver! Their quality of foods and service is outstanding. They are one the few if not the only place, which serves homemade soba (buckwheat) noodles and they are delicious!
When I first looked at the menu there were so much that I wanted to try and none of them were disappointing. They were in fact all very delicious. The crispy chicken skin was the second to the best one I had in Kyoto. In fact, never mind the organic part of it, it is so light that I questioned for a moment if what I was eating was really chicken skin! The dish was gone in no time! The dashi egg omelette is the best I ever had. It was made perfect in temperature, softness and flavorful. You egg was soaked in dashi but of course not serve in the broth. It just totally served its name. The cold tofu with tempura bites, seaweed, green onion and bonito flakes in soba sauce is fantastic for a hot summer day to kick start any meal. It's healthy and tasty! I love the soba noodles. It has a very clean and light taste. We had the noodle with a hot broth with duck pieces. The duck was so good in both texture and flavor that they should make it a dish on its own. The soba is really good with either cold dipping sauce or in a hot broth. I love the idea of that kettle of broth that you pour into the left over dipping sauce and make soup to finish off every bits and drops of the entire dish!Finished off with buckwheat crepe with strawberry and cream, matcha ice cream with red bean and home made mochi with authentic matcha! With so much food that I order and finished them all, I did not feel stuffed. I felt very good and really thought I hadn't have such healthy meal for a long time!Felt so great and satisfied leaving the restaurant and already planning for the next visit. I visited at month end. If I go back the following week the restaurant may have a new menu for my taste buds. All the dishes I had can easily be a repeat but I really should try everything else I wanted to but couldn't order anymore. Service and pace of the dishes were very attentive and great. I didn't experience any delay and/or missing dishes like some of the reviewers commented. Even if there was any flaws, I will go back for the food. Some reviewers called this fusion but I truly think this is ORIGINAL!
A small restaurant on Broadway that you can easily miss. The staff are super friendly and polite. The menu is small but you will find something familiar and many things that you don't see in other Japanese retsaurants. We ordered many dishes that we don't know and were very happy with the new tastes. I heard the reservation is usually booked many days in advance.

This would have been very nice on a small street, but not so much on Broadway, a loud and busy road with frequent buses.
