Stayed at the Inn next door and came over for breakfast. Food was home cooking and good. I had an omelet, and it was huge that I could only eat half. Waitress was very good as well. "Fantastic BBQ food truck. They are in Menard to my knowledge on Tuesdays only and even then there are many Tuesdays they are not at their location. That being said when they are there the food is excellent from the brisket to the pulled pork. If you see them parked, stop in and try them!"

"To begin, my name is Tom. My job as a traveling wind turbine technician takes me all across our country. Many of the turbines are located in remote places, therefore I stay in motels and have my meals in many small mom and pop restaurants, cafes, and bars in many tiny towns that most people had no idea that they existed. I enjoy meeting and talking to local people wherever I go. A couple weeks ago, on a Saturday night I wanted to go to a bar and have at least 8 shots of my favorite whiskey, Jameson. I googled up a bar near me. But since there was no bar in Menard, Texas where my motel was, it gave me the closest, in Eden, Texas. I drove there, found the bar, and from the looks of the parking lot, assumed that there was a lively bar scene inside. I parked, got out and walked to the door. There were about 5 men standing and sitting outside the door. I asked them if I were at the right entrance. They said no, I couldn't go in because Sam's Place was no longer a public bar. It had closed around a year ago. They went on to explain that the music coming from inside was from one of the gentleman's children, having a birthday party. I told them excuse me, I'm sorry for interrupting, and turned to leave. They weren't hearing that. They invited me to stay, gave me beer, since I came empty handed, having expecting to be drinking in a bar. A bottle of whiskey came out, shots were drank, and we talked for several hours. I had a much better time than I had ever expected, thanks to the friendly people of Eden, Texas. Guys, my thanks to you for accepting me, and making me feel at home."
