I was pleased to accept an invitation to the tour in the real mary kings close and to eat in their caffe, the royal exchange coffee house too. I have always thought about the real mary kings close as a visit-rat attraction with the concrete on visitors – I am a native – why should I go; and the only reason I would probably go is if family members and friends from the country wanted a very “scottish” experience. after... What PNEPete doesn't like about The Royal Exchange Coffee House:
Visited for a drink and cakes after the tour of Mary Kings Close. Wanted a hot chocolate, none left, so had a white coffee, and a muffin which was a bit on the dry side. Had to ask for sugar for the coffee, cakes apart from the muffin were ok, as were the drinks. Surroundings nice, located in the Royal exchange Building, above Mary Kings Close. Service was very slow, a bit haphazard and staff not very customer friend... View all feedback.
Finding the place was tricky. If they put on their website (It is immediately on the left as you exit St Giles and immediately on the right as you enter St Gile...
