Great atmosphere with amazing food. The half sandwich and soup combo is pretty much all I order nowadays. Big sandwiches, tasty soup, WiFi and fast service. There's something on the menu for everyone and all of it is tasty View all feedback.
What Annamae Mills doesn't like about Free Press Bistro:
Located in Downtown Edmonton in the Holiday Inn Express. Limited menu specializing in panini style sandwiches. Tried the local Big Rock Grasshopper Beer, which was OK but too bitter for my taste.Had the Kubla Khan panini (Mongolian beef, carrots, Hoisin chile sauce and mozzarella) with chips. Was tasty with good heat.Amaretto cappuccino gelato for dessert.Service and food were good. Good choice if you don't want to l... View all feedback.
Their house tomato soup is incredibly tasty! I also had the Italian salad and it was pretty good too. The service was great, attentive but not annoying.
We were in the area for a medical appointment and used Open Table to find a nearby place to eat. We had travelled over lunch to get to the appointment so were hungry around 3 pm when it was over. As it was off-peak we had the place to ourselves for the most part. Lovely delicious food! Can't wait to go back.
We had a long stay in Edmonton, and this Restaurant is through the hallway of the Holiday Inn Express Downtown. What a great restaurant! Friendly staff, great food! Lunch menu has sandwiches and salads. Supper is sandwiches or choices of pork chops, pasta, steak and specials. The food was very flavourful and plenty on the plate. We went several times for lunch and supper. It was wonderful. And deserts, Wow, they were all amazing, my favourite being the bread pudding.Next visit, we will be back.
This place menu is limited to sandwiches as their speciality. The Red Arrow and Ebus are close by so a lot of people coming in and out of Edmonton drop by this place. Unfortunately this is also this places downfall as there are a lot of transients hanging around. The last two times I've been here I had been harassed by random people who are waiting for their bus starting up uninvited conversations/asking really evasive questions or for money. You can tell staff was annoyed too as they hid in the back to avoid these people while there are lots of tables to clear off. it is also hard for customers to eat when someone keeps coming and yapping away and many people have just got up in the middle of their meal asking to take it to go. Next time i come here will have to take it to go as this is not a sit down place to eat in peace.

Good choice if you don't want to leave the hotel, but there are better choices if you want to explore the downtown strip.
