What BelmeadCouple likes about Island Cafe & Bistro:
We discovered this Malaysian restaurant in west Edmonton, just a short 15-minute drive from our home. We tried a variety of dishes including laksa, chicken curry, roti canai, and chicken wings (the wing sauce was delicious). The highlight of our meal was the kaya cake, a crepe layered cake that kaya lovers will adore. The food was flavorful and authentic, and the owners, Vivian and Rodney, were wonderful hosts, shari... The Roti Canai was delicious, with its buttery, flaky, and crispy texture. The sauce was mild in flavor. I was pleasantly surprised by the Chicken Rendang, which was different from the traditional beef rendang cooked in a curry sauce. The dish consisted of two large pieces of leg and thigh in a slightly oily sauce, topped with crunchy and flavorful toasted coconut. View all feedback.

Despite the disappointment, the restaurant was still recommended with caution. On the other hand, Island Café, a small Malaysian restaurant in a strip mall, exceeded expectations with its delicious food and attentive service. The roti, curries, and signature dishes like the spicy wing meal received high praise from visitors. The authentic Malaysian flavors and friendly owners made for an unforgettable dining experience. Another hidden gem, a mom and pop Malaysian restaurant in west Edmonton, impressed diners with its balanced flavors and welcoming atmosphere. Guests enjoyed a variety of dishes, including laksa, roti, and spring rolls. Overall, both Island Café and the mom and pop restaurant were highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Malaysian cuisine.
