"We chose this restaurant based on previous reviews and judging by how busy it got it must usually be a good place to eat. Unfortunately I think they were having an off night for us. The staff we good, as you would expect but apparently one of the waiting staff was off sick nothing unusual in that in today's climate however I'm not sure how that contributed to us getting the wrong order. There were 5 of us starters arrived without too much of a wait but one of the garlic breads was just luke warm not really a major issue but it contributed to the overall experience. Two of the main courses arrived one chicken dish and a lobster raviolli. several minutes passed before a waiter came to tell us they had brought the wrong order, but by this time one of the diners had already started his meal and had finished it before the rest arrived. 10 15 mins later the rest of us got most of my sides and cutlery I had to ask a couple of times for. Staff were apologetic when we complained and seemed to blame the error on the member of staff off sick. The food itself did little to lift the mood which was a shame as it seems to be a nice little place. As i say it must have just been an off night, typical it happened on the first meal we as a group of friends have had for a couple of years."

"The staff are really nice and the cafe is so clean and the best till last the food is to die for freshly prepared and professionally prepared and cooked and the cakes you will lick the plate clean,the coffee is brilliant not weak but a really good roast so give em a try"

"Sorry Cafe Velo. I say sorry because we are regular customers. The last visit on a Saturday morning just before lunch we thought the Cafe Gloomy and quiet. The full English was ok but not exceptional. The service was ok but normally there's a nice vibe even if your not a cyclist. On a previous visit we commented on the table being sticky. We were informed it was the type of varnish on the table. on this occasion the tables are still sticky. not nice and needs addressing."

"Absolutely shocking. We entered the pub after a long journey with full family 3 young children) and our dog. The staff a lady) didn’t look happy we had entered her establishment , but invited us to sit in the dog friendly food area and get settled. When we went to order drinks and ask for a menu, we was then told they could not serve us food due to a large order. I run a large business in the area and I would be not happy turning away people. We then headed to Hope and Anchor who couldn’t have been more welcoming not just with the children but with the dog too, food bowls and water provided on arrival. I won’t be returning to this place and will certainly be letting my circle of friends and family know"

"First visit to this place last night with my brother, its a little gem, tentative staff, freindly and polite but best of all the food was totally delicious, no long wait time for food a relaxed atmosphere and reasonable prices, also very clean with upstairs kitchen on show, always a good sign."
