Had afternoon tea here. Everything was delicious. Fab choice of sandwiches and cakes, all freshly made. Couldn't finish everything so got to bring the remainder...

"Coldish saturday afternoon in December. Every pub and bar in town was packed to overflowing, but this small pub, (micro pub really) sandwiched between two other pubs was quieter with spare seating. Started with a local brew, sat outside and conversed congenially with a local. Went inside for second drink. Fancied something different and asked if a wheat beer was available. The lady said no. A gent at the bar said they had Leffe if I wanted Belgian and pointed to a bottle on the shelf. Next to it I noticed a bottle of Blue Moon . I suggested this was in a wheat beer, but she was adamant it was not it was a white beer. I insisted and she inspected it and then agreed it was indeed wheat. She did apologise, but I was disappointed I had to tell her about her job. The beer was enjoyable. Did not eat, but looking at the blackboard I would say it was more light snacks than proper meals but prices looked ok."

"Quick Review. This place was amazing. Reminded me of the fresh fish bars in Barcelona. The service was incredible, attentive and with purpose of the guest having a good time. This was a whistlestop visit. Drink options were great and I went for the house gin which was really tasty and garnished well. The oysters were great. Simple garnish of lemon and hot sauce. Was a tad surprised at the lack of mignonette but that’s no issue. The oysters were fresh and tasted great. The haddock croquettes were incredible. Well cooked and tasted fantastic. I love a venue where you can see the food being cooked! Nothing like seeing a blowtorch being used on a mackerel! I cannot wait for the next time I head back and try more off the menu. Bravo!"

"We chose this restaurant based on previous reviews and judging by how busy it got it must usually be a good place to eat. Unfortunately I think they were having an off night for us. The staff we good, as you would expect but apparently one of the waiting staff was off sick nothing unusual in that in today's climate however I'm not sure how that contributed to us getting the wrong order. There were 5 of us starters arrived without too much of a wait but one of the garlic breads was just luke warm not really a major issue but it contributed to the overall experience. Two of the main courses arrived one chicken dish and a lobster raviolli. several minutes passed before a waiter came to tell us they had brought the wrong order, but by this time one of the diners had already started his meal and had finished it before the rest arrived. 10 15 mins later the rest of us got most of my sides and cutlery I had to ask a couple of times for. Staff were apologetic when we complained and seemed to blame the error on the member of staff off sick. The food itself did little to lift the mood which was a shame as it seems to be a nice little place. As i say it must have just been an off night, typical it happened on the first meal we as a group of friends have had for a couple of years."

"Jumping into the unknown, we booked on the advise of others. Going round to a strangers house to eat food was a little taboo to me, but, we were far from disappointed. Every course was exquisite, different and with a professional flair. I have eaten all round the globe and the Gourmet Kitchen is definitely up there in my top 3. Taking your own tipple is a plus for me as you do not have to wait for service. We will definitely book again. Thank you both for an amazing experience. 5/5"
