What gemma e likes about Nt Local Fish Chips:
This place can be hit and miss, we had a bad experience about a year ago but gave them another go. OMG Barramundi NT Saltwater was fresh and cooked beautifully in the crumb, and the potato cake was cooked all the way through and wasnt at all oily. Chips were good but I would go as far to say that we havent had a fish or potato cake of this quality since the old 90s fish and chip shops. I really hope we get another hi... View all feedback.

I ordered 2X fish (battered snapper) large fries, and a can of coke. The fish batter was disgusting it was greasy, tough to chew and tasted stale. The fries were limp and cold, clearly not fresh at all. Even the can of coke couldnt save the meal from being a complete disappointment. I would not recommend this to anyone looking for a tasty meal. $19 for one piece of Barra smaller then my hand (in length and width) certainly not worth $19!!!!!

"Smith Street Social is a beautiful venue with a lot of potential, but it seems like both the staff and kitchen don't cope under pressure. There was a function on upstairs so I maybe they put all their effort there to ensure the people upstairs had a great night. Unfortunately if they can't successfully run the core business at the same time as a function, they're better off just doing one or the other. We'd booked a table, but waited a long time to even speak to a staff member to find out where our table was. The staff seemed awkward, inexperienced, and reluctant to be there I didn't see any one of them smile at us or any other customer. Our meals took 50 minutes to come out and at no point during that time did anyone communicate with us that the wait would be so long. The barra was decent, but the burger arrived cold and very dry. Basically: I wouldn't recommend. There's too many great pubs and restaurants and even food trucks in Darwin to spend 50 minutes and $26 for a cold dry burger from unsmiling staff."
