What User likes about Shady Oak Barbecue Grill:
Beautiful atmosphere and mood, and a solid meal. The Brisket was, unfortunately, simple. I don't know how to say it. They are for Texas Brisket, literally, watering your mouth, then take the first bite and it tastes like it might be in a steam floor or something. Apart from that, big sauce, super delicious Texas beans and fried Okra. I would go back, but it would be a distant choice over a target event. View all feedback.

What Margaret Conklin Ramsey doesn't like about Shady Oak Barbecue Grill:
We have never had a bad experience at Shady Oaks. Until last night. Party of 4, we were seated in near bar. I. guess the bartender had to do double duty, she was not a friendly server, it was not busy in this area, she had no more than 2 tables of r people at one time while we were there, never offered refill on anything but water, we all had sodas or margaritas. Food came out with hot sides, cool meat. the brisket w... View all feedback.

Went here for a company Christmas party. They served hors d'oeuvres, which were very good, especially the onion rings. Beer was cold and service was very good.

"Super good pies! We got the I-40 (pecan, chocolate chip and coconut) and a key lime along with the melting moments cookies. The service was great as well. I like the stores decor."

"Excellent! I love eating here. (Note: the menu is very limited; and changes each quarter. It doesn't matter what you order. It's always tasty and delicious. It is a rather eclectic menu. It is gourmet food simply at its best. There are salads, sandwiches but don't expect anything boring or typical. The entrees are delightful with even a vegan option. Don't forget dessert. There's usually two choices, and a hard decision. Know that the menu has no prices. (If I had to complain about anything, it would be two things. Service is slower, so it might take longer than an hour if you are limited on time. And two, having to figure out the ticket. Each food and drink item has blanks for you to fill in what you think each item is worth. I don't want to interrupt my satisfaction and enjoyment of lunch having to do intricate math and I love math. I usually put a total on the bottom. You pay what you think it is worth; but keep in mind that anything over the cost of the meal goes to help the homeless. It was started as a project of love to help the homeless to good food and by treating them with dignity. They employ some and they also allow them to eat for free so be generous. Also, don't let that scare you or put you off because you are uncomfortable about being near the homeless. There are always so many patrons, reservations are highly encouraged, you might see one or two homeless but it isn't an issue. You will feel good about it. The restaurant has a rustic modern flair. It is comfortable and clean. And even though there are hard surfaces, you can hear what others in your party are saying. It is a great place to visit. You won't regret it. Parking is on the side streets."
