"We have eaten at most of the La Colombe group restaurants and always thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We tried Protégé during a weekend away in Franschoek and it was positively mind blowing. The food, service and ambiance were all next level. The friendly team were helpful, engaged, patient and funny! We had such a great time. The prawn stuffed Korean fried chicken was a particularly great standout and the cocktails were unreal!"

"Amazingly beautiful dishes, elite style restaurant. Dishes not too big but very tasty, wine glasses portioned well. Got some nice “on the house” treats. Only slight problem is that food takes a LOT of time to come out."

"I really don't have words to decribe first of all the friendliness, professionalism and patience of the staff. We were a big party, half of which got loud during the course of the evening but the staff! Oh my word! They just took it all in their stride. Thank you Reuben's for that. The food... was magnificent! No seasoning needed on any of my dishes, and a surprise with every bite. I had the beetroot cured salmon poke bowl and the risotto... I did not for one second regret my decision to not have the beef cheeks or line fish because that risotto.... was delicious. I think those around me wanted to change their orders rather. I wish I could have thanked the chef personally but alas, I could not. The entire kitchen staff kept the Reuben's flag flying high as I'm sure they do every night. Thank you for the hospitality and food Reuben's Restaurant Franschoek."

"Very enjoyable Sunday lunch. The Wiener Schnitzel was very good, so was the Wurstsalat. The Austrian Ravioli were good, maybe a bit too buttery (i.e. too rich), while the filling was slightly lacking flavour (alternatively, a bit more cheese could be added on top to enhance the flavours). The chef was very generous with the salmon on top of the salad. Overall, excellent. Portions are large, service is friendly, views from the garden are stunning. We'll definitely return. Oh...what we would love to see on the menu would be an Almdudler and an Austrian or Bavarian beer vom Fass. But sourcing them is probably difficult."

"Attentive service, lovely food, excellent wine an idyllic experience is on your doorstep Paarl seems like it might be a great trek. However we were pleasantly surprised to be rewarded with an idyllic escape after a 40 minute journey out of Cape Town. Service was superlative and the restaurant is a run attentively and unobtrusively. The menu was delightful with foraged items being used excellently, beautifully and tastily in a garden setting with a wonderful landscape to crown it all. Portions were generous and the wine is incredible."
