The Monk has recently changed its licence from restaurant to tavern and in my opinion the atmosphere is much more relaxed and welcoming. They brew on the premises and produce some outstanding beers, my particular favourite is the IPA a flavoursome beer with a level of bitterness that lets you know very quickly what you are drinking and at 6% is definitely not a session beer. We have eaten here before and been less than impressed, only dining this time as it was not our decision. A really limited menu, not overly expensive but not cheap, 560ml beer for $11.50 when they make it here seems ridiculous, wine list very limited and very expensive.
