During a recent week-long stay in Funchal we found Vasco da Gama was our nearest restaurant so visited early in the week. We loved the location, view, decor and food. The staff were lovely and welcoming. We liked it so much we visited 3 times during the week! Would definitely recommend this restaurant. View all feedback.

Walked from our our villa hoping for a nice meal with views overlooking Funchal. Staff were brusque clearly more interested in locals in the front entrance bar than us. Allowed us to sit at a reserved table then had to move us. Food when delivered was almost inedible, my husband ate my chicken out of embarrassment, three lumps of stringy chicken, tasteless broiled lumps of broccoli and cauliflower, and a sticky pile... This restaurant had a lovely family feeling which was unexpected given the spectacular view. The Madeira style cuisine was tasty.
