we visited the cracker barrel during a journey through gallup, nm on hwy 40. easy to reach and beautiful parking. the country house has a lot or tasty, sweets and homeware. eating is American comfort, but the shiny star of this situation was our waitress lisa. I've generally enjoyed Cracker Barrel meals, though meals there are limited as I live far from one. This was an exception. I had a favorite of mine; chicken and dumplings. I've loved it in the past (and been greatful that it was very inconvenient to get) but that meal was way below par. The dumplings were chewy and heavy.
