We took a taxi from Ottawa to Gatineau for the purpose of having poutine in Quebec. My wife had never had poutine before and I wanted to start authentic. We told our taxi driver the purpose of our visit and he said we had to go to Patate Doree and took us there. It's pretty much a hole in the wall but is famous for its poutine. What User doesn't like about Patate Doree:
The poutine was acceptable, but not the best I've ever had. The fries seem to be pre-cook half way and then they are put aside for until an order is made and they are then fried a second time. It maked for a greasy poutine.The lady behind the counter seemed very angry and was not very friendly at all.There is nothing to mention about the atmosphere here. Keep your expectations low.
