"The hotel restaurant is clearly popular with other than hotel guests so be sure to book a table in peak season and for a good meal with a couple of glasses of wine expect to pay circa Euros a head. The three course tariff...at euros is good value as there is basically a choice of anything off the menu with a few extra costs for the more expensive dishes. Steaks are thick, large and extremely tender and tasty. My wife loved the calves liver whilst the Black Forest Parfait with kirsch soaked morello cherries made me very happy. Service was good, some nice little touches but why they did not first offer us a drink when we sat at the table before ordering food was a mystery to me. On the third occasion we dined there they actually did so! ]As it was warm the staff were keen to offer seating in the pleasant garden so make sure you wear insect repellent if you accept the offer as I did not and paid the price! Finally if staying for longer than a few days then the menu might feel a little repetitive, nice little touches such as amuse bouche' and main course covers being lifted simultaneously so it is clear the owner is keen to lift the standard and it is against the standard of a top quality restaurant I rate the establishment."

"Very cozy small hotel. Very little choice for vegetarians, but available choices are tasty. One risotto, one rosti, ..that's all. But good quality food nevertheless. The best feature was the warm friendliness of the hotel owner who's family is the serving staff. Such friendly and...helpful people, attract you to the place again and again. Breakfast was the best with a fantastic array of breads and cheeses."

"A great evening at Ponyhof! A beautifully decorated courtyard offers something new to discover. Food and beverages are very lovingly prepared, almost a composition of petals, wild herbs and fish/meat. In the water the guest can also choose between room temperature and cold, the greeting from the kitchen to begin, simply harmonious. We like to come back, there is still much to discover."

"Because many of the reviews of schatull are favourable, I hesitate to present a negative report, as our experience was perhaps anomaly. However, I think it is important to share our observations. we arrived in shady and sat within minutes. the waiter. has our beverage order and meals order at the same time. I have found on the menu on the meals we wanted and that the meal does not contain mushrooms (my wife is allergic). my wife's place was made of a dirty knife and no fork when the waiter immediately brought our drinks, he delivered clean space settings for both of us so far so good. in the meantime some guests came shortly after the did there were some occupied tables that we could see from our point of view. fast forward an hour we didn't see the waiter again (I would at least like to order a second beer while we waited). we ran only a little time due to an earlier engagement so that we had the waiter up and asked for the updating of our meal times, which he said: “They come”. the manager stopped by and asked if we had ordered food, apparently our order was never turned into the kitchen. when we were out of time, my wife told them that they forgot the meal; then the waiter said we never ordered the meal. we paid for the drinks and left (it would have been nice if they did not calculate us for those we was wasting for an hour of our time). By the way, during this one-hour period was the only eating that was delivered to one of the other tables, an salat, so it seems clear that there was a problem in the kitchen that was connected by the incompetent service."

"The restaurant has a pleasant location in downtown Gengenbach. The public parking is not far away. Since we were there during the Martinamarkt, I can only write something about the interior. This was also pleasant and not over decorated. Now to the dishes, we had a simple salad as an appetizer, as the main dish Rumpsteak with pommes and croquettes. And to the conclusion of Crème Brûlée. All in all, the food was top and I have nothing to criticize. The service staff was very nice and attentive. The only criticism I have is the price, although price performance is in turn top. So a clear recommendation."
