"The hotel restaurant is clearly popular with other guests than hotel guests, so in the season they should definitely book a table and pay for a good eating with a few glasses wein about 45 euros per person. the three-course fare of 36 euro is cheap, as there is a selection of everything from the menu, with a few priced up for the more expensive dishes. steaks are thick, large and extremely delicate and tasty. my wife loved the calf liver, while the black forest parfait made me very happy with morellokirschen in cherry. the service was good, a few nice little attentions, but why they didn't give us a drink first when we sat at the table before we ordered the food was a riddle to me. at the third time when we had dinner there, they actually did that!] because it was warm, the employees were very interested in offering seating in the beautiful garden. "In the past, I have already eaten in this very good restaurant and this time I was once again very satisfied. I ate a very good red beet carpaccio with caramelized goat cheese as starter, followed by a very good veal steak with Asparagus and...risotto The cooking of the veal (requested as medium) was perfect. The service was good and very friendly (only issue : in German only), the choice of local wines is interesting. We paid around € for drinks, starters, main dishes and half a litter of local red wine. I strongly recommend this place."

"We have eaten here a few times on our first trip to gengenbach and also on the last trip. once we ate in the beer garden. no one was there and we waited and waited and finally a man came out. I couldn't say if he was rude or just tried to be funny. it was a difficult experience to accept our order. next time we ate in. there are two inside parts - the bar and the restaurant. the bar is clearly the main venue. when we sat down, two women played video games. no one came back. we went, but we saw nowhere else in the city where we wanted to eat this evening, so we went back. the two women were still there, they showed us that we had to ring what we did, and the waitress came. that was in order. the first time I had blown and the woman had a salami cheese sandwich. the second time I had half a chicken and pommes. they kicked the chicken and it had an excellent crispy skin. I also had pommes - too many to eat. the woman had bratwurst and potato salad. the food was good and the price was excellent. I don't know if smoking is allowed in the restaurant, but it was clear in the bar and the smoke traveled to the restaurant, so if they don't like the smoke smell, the inside restaurant is not the right place for them."
