What Jeroen doesn't like about La Cave:
The meal was not very flavorful and had a musty taste, which reminded me of a cellar. This was for dinner and cost over €100 per person. The quality of the food was rated at 1, while the service and atmosphere were both given a 4. View all feedback.
Really bad. Very mean too, one time I went to eat and a little boy with his mother was sitting in front of the window waiting for the tram, they knocked on the door and chased them away, really an ambarass! Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
Hamburger not cooked and of poor quality, staff making throat clearing noises as if they were going to spit on us during service. Repugnant. Don't be fooled by the beautiful infrastructure, it's a tourist trap, nothing more. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
We made the mistake of dining at this restaurant tonight and it was a total disappointment. We ordered a burger that came with thawed and toasted bread, unmelted cheddar, frozen raw vegetables, and frozen fries for €18 - a complete rip off. We also tried the chicken vol au vent which was served without puff pastry and with sticky frozen chicken, alongside more frozen raw vegetables and fries for €23 - another outrageous price for such low quality. The atmosphere was fake with plastic candles, overly loud music, and mismatched salt and pepper shakers with visible bar codes. To top it off, the manager was sitting alone at the back of the restaurant watching videos on his phone. In summary, save your money and stay far away from this place. The food is terrible, the prices are high, and it seems like they may be on the verge of going out of business.
This restaurant's service and atmosphere both received a perfect score of 5.
Nice venue. Friendly and helpful welcoming staff. Excellent food. Too bad for the slowness. It's a shame that if you don't call they will NOT consider you anymore. It's a shame that you have to wait half an hour for the dessert on the menu. Then when you ask to have it, after a long time you are told if you want to change it because it is finished. Total 40 Min from second to non-sweet. Yes, because being extremely late we no longer had another half hour to wait. Too bad the owner also had his reasons It's a shame that you pay for entire menus even if they don't bring you everything. Total lunch time 2h for starter and main course. Ghent offers so much choice I advise you against it here
