"What can I say, the Auberge du chateau was a needed arrival in Loudenville and boy did it deliver. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming with an open fire on which meat in often cooked in front of you. The food is brilliant mountain grub with a protein packed menu that also caters to vegetarians, a feature not often seen in this part of france."

"I came to eat at this restaurant 4 times. Twice I came in the evening during the week in the off-season so it was great, quick service, very good meal, friendly staff. No complaints. But twice I came with family, 3 children and at least 4 adults, for lunch on the weekend. There were a lot of people, the staff was overwhelmed, the service was very slow and messy. The last time, I didn't have a starter, so they brought me my dish at the same time (5/10 minutes after) that they served the starters. So I eat, then 1 hour of waiting before everyone else finally has their dishes. But when the dishes arrive, the children's paninis are missing (they had forgotten them). So we are told that we prepare them quickly (during this time the adults eat their dish). When it finally arrives the panini are all white and cold, the cheese is not even melted. We see them again in the kitchen, another 5/10 minutes of waiting, the children can finally eat. More than deplorable service, no apology from the bosses or commercial gesture. Really disappointed. It's good, but the service is not good when there are too many people. I'm not sure I'll come back."

"This may look to be a fairly ordinary restaurant from the road (it is in Guchan, on the right of the main road travelling between Arreau and St Lary) but it is a really good place to enjoy a well cooked meal. On arrival you will find that there is plenty of car parking space immediately outside. Once inside, the seating and tables are well spaced apart and, overall, it is a comfortable place to have an evening meal. In good weather there is also the option to eat outdoors on a large terrace adjoining the main building. The decor inside is rustic but also clean and bright, with attractive place settings on the tables. Service is friendly and efficient. The staff seem to genuinely want to be helpful and are attentive. Both waitresses that served us spoke very good English but were happy for us to try our French when we wanted and as well as we could. The menu offers plenty of choice and reflects the food of the local area (duck, lamb, pork beef) though seafood also features extensively. As with virtually all restaurants in France, there are a selection of set menus at different prices, as well as the option to choose individual dishes from La Carte. Whatever choices you make, you are unlikely to go hungry the dishes are hearty and portions are substantial! There is a good wine list with reasonable prices and the option to buy some wines by the glass as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here with friends and all agreed it was an excellent find . I 've no hesitation in recommending the restaurant to anyone with a good appetite! ."

"I have not given any idea why this restorer has given a certificate for excellent cooking, I had not had this experience at all! my man ordered a really bad pizza that is quite open and insulted to italy and the history of pizza. No pizza should be covered in thick layers of cheap French cheese, with about a glass honey and nothing else. no dead, no more crumble, nothing. I had some really fat lamb, with a money and wear sose poured over it with some token bits rosmarin. the dessert good let them tell me that tarte didin not soggy pasty or processed apples on the top, this came from somewhere like procash, seriously bad. please, if you run a restaurant, have some knowledge of how to cook, be passionate, cook with inspiration. I'm sorry they don't deserve their rating on tripadvisor."
