As McKinnon locals, we LOVE Mr Burch and Son of a Burch for its consistently good coffee and friendly service. The food is always delicious and the specials menu always has some interesting options to keep the menu enticing for those of us who visit regularly. And according to my kids, they make the best babycinos around. View all feedback.
What Madisyn Barrows doesn't like about Mr Burch:
please do not apply this facility. I had an abnormally disturbing experience here, where the kitchen for unknown reasons carved a ridiculously hot chilli into the shape of a flower and placed on the top of my meal. I thought it was capsicum, I ate, and I was in anxious pain, visibly crying, for the rest of my time here. when I told the waiter his answer: yes, it's like a woman, quite but painful. absolutely disgustin... On a suggestion from a friend, we chose to have Afternoon tea at Mr. Burch in McKinnon. What a delight this turned out to be. The little cafe offered the most delightful selection of pastries, tarts and cakes. We chose the yummiest raspberry and rhubarb...tart. I could have taken half a dozen of them home. The latte was perfect, and the tea came in a sweet little teapot complete with a hand knitted cosy. The tea cup was quaintly old fashioned, but perfect. The staff were friendly and quick with service without being subservient. This is definitely somewhere we shall return to.
Please do not patronise this establishment. I had an abnormally disturbing experience here where the kitchen, for reasons unknown, carved a RIDICULOUSLY HOT CHILLI into the shape of a flower and put it on the top of my meal. Thinking it was capsicum, I ate...it, and I was in excruciating pain, visibly crying, for the remainder of my time here. When I reported this to the waiter, his response: Yes, it 's just like a woman, pretty but painful. Absolutely disgusting. I 'd ordered this meal before, and never had it been topped by a chilli. Beware of this place.
I’ve been to Mr Burch twice now to have high tea with my Aunty and grandmother. We enjoyed it so much at Mother’s Day that we returned for a pre Christmas celebration. Between the food presentation and the food itself, it was simply divine. We had...three types of sandwiches smoked salmon with cream cheese, cucumber with cream cheese and ham with mustard which were nice and fresh; scones were light and fluffy and tasted delicious with berry jam and clotted cream. At the top of the stands were delicious chocolate brownies and little pannacottas; these were delicious and creamy without being too rich. All three of us enjoyed our coffees and hot chocolates. The staff were also very pleasant and friendly. My only criticism: the benches were rather hard and providing small cushions would go a long way to improving comfort. There’s also an all day breakfast and lunch menu. From what I saw, the food looked really nice. Am planning to return for lunch in the near future.
Picked this little place up on TripAdvisor and was not disappointed. Service excellent, coffee strong and good sensational. Had the prosciutto special. Will be back.
As good as high tea you will find at a price that is not ridiculous. Everything was exceptional on the day.
