Contribute FeedbackGeneral On a recommendation of an acquaintance, we visited Beijing Pavilion Restaurant for the first time on Sunday evening at 9 a.m. I was told that it was one of the few Chinese who cooked without glutamate. For me, glutamat-free cooking is a really important point because I am always very happy to eat Chinese, but it is usually not possible to enjoy it afterwards, as I have a light to medium-heavy glutamate tolerance. It's just an unimportant information. The Beijing Pavilion lies behind a slightly higher hedge easily hidden in the Friedrichstraße very close to the Wilhemsplatz. You should think it's very loud out there. That's not the case. It was amazingly calm. Due to the mild temperatures we chose a place in the rear part of the Terasse. All tables are covered with flower tablecloths and you sit on garden chairs with cozy seat cushions. Salt, pepper, Sambal Oelek and soy sauce are on every table. The outdoor area is L shaped around the restaurant. There are probably more than ten different large tables available. On our arrival, however, only three of them were occupied. During the evening, the outdoor area filled with view. Curious to the interior, I dared a look into the interior of the Beijing Pavilion and was positively surprised: not the usual slightly old-fashioned, danced furniture, freezing scent and old-fashioned, dusty china decoration, but the exact opposite! Large, pretty vases, plates, Chinese porcelain, a few bigger dragons: all as from the still-retaining China collection in the historic museum. I liked very good, simple, clean, but not impersonal! In the same way the table decoration inside pastel-colored tablecloths with white plaids and a matching candle! Chafing Dishes was still in the large guest room, which led me to a buffet. Sunday evening there is no buffet! A nice older Chinese woman told me about it. Sometimes you feel a little uncomfortable if you just want to look at a restaurant, but not here! I liked the decoration, the more excited I was on the service and the food. Because of the size of the rooms, I was not quite sure whether our arrival was noticed and therefore pointed to us on the very sung young waiter. After a short waiting period we were greeted again kindly and received the card. Thick leather bindings near a large map. Fortunately, the map was clear: one side for chicken, fish and duck dishes as well as other treats. Our waiter was young, simply dressed black and very attentive and friendly all night. No offensive or uninterested. That's exactly how I wish service if I want to spend a quiet evening! We chose both a small appetizer: Wan Tan soup and Kropeck crab chips. Our drinks came fast, including the appetizers. My soup was, as I had imagined, and the arbor was also fresh. A beautiful beginning! When cleaning the older service, it was very kindly asked if everything was okay. As a main dish we had both decided to a duck dish: Fried duck chop suey various fried vegetables not roasted soaked duck with a piquant sauce with mushrooms and bamboo extra We wanted to share to enjoy both dishes. The two dishes were not served with a hotplate. I don't understand why. There was rice in a separate dish. I started with the roasted duck, served with the piquant sauce in the separate scrub: very nice! The duck was a bit too dry for my taste, but it was also expected with a Greek duck, so no mistake of the kitchen. It is also good that you do not get the usual fat-containing duck skin. The piquant sauce was also really piquant several fresh mushrooms and pepper slices, if you want to grind now, then you could create the slightly gel-like consistency. That would be high-level stools! A lot of meat on a fresh soy sauce bed. Not quite my taste, but still delicious! Of course, the court of my friend Duck Chop Suey tasted much better. We haven't waited long and swapped shorthands. The Duck Chop Suey tasted very well: lots of vegetables, soft duck meat, liquid sauce and everything in sufficient amount. During the meal we had to make a lot of rice etc. and suddenly our bowl was empty. We quickly informed our waiter and other fresh rice we had to wait. Great! You have to say that it really tasted us both. But we left another dessert. Our preference was then with the ice salon in the city. On the way to the toilet I noticed that in the corner where the checkout stood there were some family pictures. Very sympathetic. It's a family business. The toilets, like the rest of the restaurant, were quite simple, noble and very clean! The Beijing Pavilion offers simple, Chinese ambience, delicious food at fair prices, a quiet atmosphere for all ages. Here you are welcome both alone and as a group. The food was fresh and the service is friendly and attentive, but with consideration. Maybe you can trust yourself to sell. I think it speaks for itself that the place was filled in the evening. Here you seem to go regularly! For me a long time one of the best Chinese! I'd like to come back! P.S.: I don't know if there is really no glutamate. I'm afraid there was a slight discomfort. In case of severe glutamate tolerance, ask sensitive again!
Always the same quality I visit the restaurant for decades
One of the few remaining addresses in Göttingen for good Chinese food! And so central, I think that's great. For many years, I've been over and over again and it's never worse. Since the beginning, the food has just been pointed, everything has always been cooked on the point (ice beautiful crisp) and very lovingly dressed. Go and thank you!
