"I do not think in all my trips to France and negative experiences with French waiters it has ever been this bad....and that is saying quite a lot. I do not find these kinds of reviews helpful usefully so do not post them, but this was rather extreme and I thought important to share.Yesterday, on Tuesday, 30 May 2017 we arrived for lunch and while our table was being cleaned and set up for us I went to wash up in the restaurant bathroom. On my way I was intercepted by an extremely rude, arrogant and obnoxious woman (waitress) who told me that the toilets were only for clients and that I would have to go outside to use the bathroom. I confirmed that I was a client and she asked me where my table was. I pointed to the corner where a waiter was clearing the table for us, and she refused to believe me, preventing me from entering the bathroom and telling me again that I was to go outside and use the public toilet in the village...No matter how I explained, she was relentless, shooing me outside like a dog, and refusing to believe me that I was a client at the restaurant. She also pointed to the table where I said we were to be seated and insisted that it was not mine. I told her again that it was being cleaned for us, and very directly told her how awful I thought her behaviour was. I then went to the waiter who cleared our table to ask for the manager so that I could inform whoever was in charge what had happened, but he just shrugged his shoulders as if this was normal, not his problem, and why should he even bother with this conversation....She ruined the dining experience for me and tarnished an otherwise very pleasant visit to Gordes, and I started to wonder if someone like me (a well dressed, friendly, white woman, foreign tourist but a speaker of enough French to converse, ready to spend money at the establishment) how would she treat other people??????We ate there -- because they had cleared the table for us and the person with whom I was with was ready to order -- but this waitress completely ruined the experience for me. I have never posted a review like this, but found the behaviour so inexcusable and unpleasant that I would caution others...There are plenty of other restaurants in Gordes."
