"What a unique experience – and I don't mean that in a good way! We brought a friend and his son in for a birthday dinner and two of the guys decided to try the ribeye. I could get a better cut of steak at Walmart, but that's not the worst part. They both ordered medium rare, and when steaks came there was barely any pink inside- they were over cooked. They both sent them back and asked again for medium rare. The waitress came back to the table and said they were out of ribeye. Both the guys ordered a different meal, but the owner brought one ribeye back over and insisted that the birthday boy cut into his steak again. She insisted he was wrong and that it was medium rare. She basically insisted that he eat it even though it was over cooked- who does that!?! Now we were are all uncomfortable because this was supposed to be a HAPPY birthday dinner and the birthday boy was strong armed into eating a chewy over cooked ribeye – I believe it was the most expensive item on the menu. On top of that, they accidentally brought someone else's ribeye to our table later – so they were not actually out of ribeye like they said they were. We've eaten there several times over the years, and my husband ate there regularly for lunch – but they lost longtime customers that day. Had it not been a birthday, we probably all would've handled the situation a little differently, but we smiled and made the best of the situation. I would've given one star all around, but someone brought over some pie at the end of our meal to try to smooth things over, and my son had a good burger and my roll was good. Thanks for the effort in the end – but that was an unacceptable way to handle that situation and I hope you never do that to anyone again! "A must stop that checks every box: 1) Historic building renovated with love inside and out, mix of small and communal tables that made for a warm impression as soon as the door swung open. "We stopped at Floyd while we were out. This Hometown café is obviously a favorite with locals. But only twelve minutes from I-20, Floyd's Cafe should also be a traveler's favorite. This is the place where Linda Ronstadt sang, where a hamburger sleeps on an open grill. Very simple all-American comfort food with large portions and home taste. The owners and employees are friendly and welcoming. The service was excellent. We visited on Thursday when the burger baskets are in special offer. So I ordered the Mushroom Swiss Burger with onion rings. This is a good old-fashioned, hot-off-the-grill enormous 1/2 lb bovine patty crushed in Swiss cheese, mushrooms and grilled onions. Of course on a bungalow with your choice of mustard or mayo. Great! The onion rings were good, but I couldn't finish them all and save space for dessert. My wife ordered the steak fingers and chose macaroni and cheese and French fries as their sides. It was served with Texas Toast. She doesn't like engraving and asked her to hold it, but it is usually included. She enjoyed the meal and said that the Mac and cheese tasted like that of her grandmother when she was small, a loving memory. We ordered both desserts. I've got the peach cop who was amazing! It was not excessively sweet and had a bread pudding-like consistency with only a slight crust that made the peaches nicely complicated. My wife has the apple cake. I had a bite and it was very good. Nether of us could finish our desserts and take at least half of them into a box. The prices were extremely reasonable, especially given the generous proportions. We added Floyd's Cafe to our favorites in our GPS so we can be sure whenever we are in the area. I want to come back for dinner to try her grilled steak. Something that looks forward to a different time."
