"My wife and I stayed at Gasthof Gosausee for 4 nights, September 9-12, 2016 and really enjoyed our time there. This hotel/Gasthof is situated directly on the shore of the Gosausee and is practically the only thing directly on the shore except a dive shop next door. Gosausee is a beautiful Alpine Lake that sits below one side of the Dachstein Mountains and below the glacier that crowns the top of the peaks. The view from the hotel rooms of the lake, the mountains and the glacier are breathtaking. Each room has a balcony that presents that wonderful view like a giant Alfred Bierstadt painting hanging in the air. We never got tired of looking at the lake, mountains and glacier, and we never got over it either. It's been a couple of weeks since we came back and we are still talking about it. It was mystical. There are many photos of the Gasthof and the setting posted on TripAdvisor by past visitors. You should take a look at them to get the feel of the place. The rooms at the Gasthof are very nice, not fancy, but very nice. If you need 4-5 stars and are high maintenance travelers, then this is not the place for you. Simple means adequate in size, very clean, no room phone, and bring your own kleenex tissues. This is a place for outdoorsy people and the furniture is simple but elegant, with the walls and furnishings made from white knotty pine. Lots of wood. The Gasthof has a biergarden/restaurant that has outdoor seating on the lake in the good weather. The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed interacting with them, especially at breakfast and dinner. Our overall plan was to hike during the day, return to the Gasthof in the early evening, eat dinner there and tip some adult beverages afterwards without having to drive anywhere. Gasthof Gosausee was perfect for our needs. We took the half-board plan which supplied us with breakfast and dinner, so we really didn't need to leave the premises for meals. Breakfast was a simple, typical Austrian choice of breads, meats, cheeses, coffee, tea, juices and cooked eggs upon request. Dinner with the half-board plan does not give access to the entire dinner menu. However, each night we were offered 3-4 choices of entree, all of which were very good, varied, and more than enough in terms of quantity. One choice was always vegetarian. Adult beverages (such as beer and wine) are an additional cost. We found the combined cost of the room, half-board and additional drinks to be extremely reasonable for 4 nights in September. You can do some nice walking and hiking directly from the Gasthof and there were days when we did not need our rental car at all. There is a two-lake, 8 mile round trip walk that has an Alm at one end of it. If you don't know what an Alm is, it's a countryside, mountain type eatery with beer, wine and simple food to finely fill the bellies of tired and hungry hikers. There is also a cable car to the higher elevations or you can do it yourself by hiking up and down the 1550 meter mountain trail.A couple of important points for prospective visitors; this is a cash only lodging with an ATM very nearby in the village if you need it, and there is no elevator. You can book directly through their website and there is no need to use the giant commercial dot-com websites. We really liked this place and highly recommend it."

"Frühstück sehr reichhaltig, Ambiente etwas beengt aber nett. Tolles Feature: Außenbänke an den Fensterbänken für den schnellen Kaffee. Freundliches und bemühtes Personal. Ein Gewinn für Ischl"

"This is a very cute place with good food, decent coffee for Austrian standards and slow service. Every time we are in St. Wolfgang we come here for coffee and some bite. We libe the interior. Service is hit and miss. Usually miss :"

"I had a very good dinner at the church restaurant. The service was very good, the waitresses were open and they knew what vegan means. I ate roasted potatoes with vegetables and a mixed salad. It was labeled vegan. They also offer typical vegetarian Austrian dishes. Due to the high season they also had a vegan ice cream (toffee), which was a great surprise. Compared to other restaurants in Strobl, it was also quite cheap. We will visit this restaurant again when we travel to Strobl."
