The server was excellent, keeping our drinks filled and checking on us multiple times. He was also very friendly. However, the food was disappointing. In particular, the fettuccini Alfredo with chicken tasted like rubbery fake chicken and was not even warm. The squash and zucchini were bland and unappetizing. The jalapeño poppers were fresh and hot, but the salmon was also not warm and lacked flavor. Overall, we felt... View all feedback.
What Dominik Mangard doesn't like about Big E Steakhouse Saloon:
The food is way too expensive, even for a supposedly “good” steakhouse. The steak wasn't particularly good and it wasn't well prepared either. And for such a price it is outrageous. Pure tourist rip-off. The restaurant takes advantage of its location at the Grand Canyon… View all feedback.
This place has potential and could be much better than it is. The inside was nice and our waitress was awesome but the food is just “ok.” Macaroni cheese (had a fancy name but can’t remember) was awful and had ZEMRO flavor. Steak was just ok and nothing to write home about. The best part was the onion rings with ranch. Limited options for food in town so if you lure desperate for a steak this is one of the few options but I’d wait until I got into another town.
We ate here last night and very unhappy with the meal. My chicken was ****/uncooked and my husband's steak was mooing ? (very fatty and undercooked). The baked potatoes were good and the service was great. Very friendly staff. We ended up leaving and eating somewhere else. They had a large screen that showed images of the nearby area. That was nice but wouldn't recommend the dinning unfortunately.
Very delicious food; friendly service. yummy dessert
Finally made it to the Grand Canyon! Unfortunately, my experience at Big E's wasn't the greatest. A plus is that I was seated immediately, but after that I was invisible. I was seated for way too long before anyone paid any attention to me or came to offer me a drink. I watched as I was overlooked and others were catered too. When our waiter finally addressed us, he wasn't very friendly or engaging. Didn't offer any suggestions and he was MIA after he took the order. When I finally got my order in they forgot our drinks, didn't bring straws, and my silverware was dirty. The food was decent. But the service was awful. I paid my bill and left a tip. Unfortunately I won't be going back this trip and I don't recommend the restaurant.
Quick SummaryIt's probably the best steakhouse in the Grand Canyon area. Try to get here early; they don't take reservations unless it's for a large party. Meat was tender, service was pretty fast. The only downside was it was under-seasoned (which is fine because that's what the salt and pepper on the table were for)Food- 4 starsTenderloin medallions- these were quite tender and juicy. Only downside was it could've added a bit more salt, but nothing some tableside salt can't fixRibeye- same as above. Good marbling, cooked perfectly, but needed more saltBeet salad- this was pretty good. Vegetables were all freshWe ordered the mash potatoes, vegetables, onion rings, and mushrooms. Everything was pretty good as wellService- 4 starsFriendly and fast service. A bit more hole-in-the-wall service than I would've liked, but I still enjoyed the mealBottom LineIn the Grand Canyon area where there aren't many good dining options to choose from, Big E Steakhouse stands out above the rest
