Ok.. I’m new to Louisiana. I’ve been here 3 months. I have fallen in love with boudin. I have been eating it everywhere from Lafayette to Grand Isle. Taste is subjectiveBut. The boudin balls here are this far, the best I have ever eaten. View all feedback.
What KAT SLKJLK doesn't like about Jo-bob's Gas Grill:
This restaurant is located in a gas station, but don't let that deter you. They serve a really good burger here, which is definitely a pleasant surprise. It's also worth noting that they have their own cat; Tommy's has an inside cat while Starfish has an outside cat. The station even built a house for their furry friend. The gas pumps are missing their roof, likely due to a hurricane, but there is plenty of outdoor s... View all feedback.
Must-do when in Grand Isle. The Jo-Bob’s burger is must-have! Friendly staff as well. Cannot recommend this place enough.
Sunday at noon. Food ok, wait wasn't long. Ordering was somewhere between a verbal tragedy or a snl sketch comedy. Not every menu item was available because they weren't running the fryers or due to only cooking off of the Sunday menu, which wasn't printed. I was very polite. But the fryers weren't shut down for the day, just certain menu items. Staff wasn't rude, just really spaced out. Parking is generous. Bathrooms are clean. I used to come here frequently, but it's been a bit and I was pretty let down.
Stopped in yesterday (a Friday because I had a fried chicken itch that needed scratching. And Jo-Bob 's was the solution! Really tasty batter; not too thick, but not tempura-like either. Just right: Crispy, thin, tasty. Maybe a little corn meal in there? I dunno.... Side order of potato wedges were, um... ok. Not something I 'd make a special trip to go back for. Also grabbed an order of boudin balls. I 'm a big fan of boudin and these were heavenly! Lightly battered with the same goop as the chicken, then fried until crispy, hot, steamy, and exploding with savory goodness. DELICIOUS! (So much so that now I 'm thinking of going back for some RIGHT NOW! Here 's something that was weird: They have a few dozen different chicken menu options; dinners, platters, ala carte, etc... One menu offered all-white as an option. I asked the clerk if a two-piece was a wing and a breast, or what. She answered, We only do all-white on Sundays because that 's when we cook the breasts. Uh, ok... wait... what? I mentioned that the sign on the door (two signs, actually said they are closed on Sundays. She replied that they were, in fact, open seven days a week. So I can 't promise you that you can get white-meat fried chicken; I can 't promise you can get it on Sunday. But I can promise you will love it because it 's REALLY good!
Best fried chicken on the island! It's a gas station but once you get past that then you should be able to find something you like ;
