"We 're not sure how we missed seeing Open Studio on our initial search of restaurants to visit during our travels, but we 're certainly glad we looked a second time. This Grates Cove establishment really checked all the boxes for us. First, the fusion of the owners ' Louisiana and Newfoundland heritages produces delicious, innovative food. The menu is short, but innovative. We tried the Seafood Étouffée, a deep bowl of shrimp, cod, and scallops in a deeply flavoured broth covering a bed of rice, topped with a large scoop of snow crab, and Dirty Rice, a ground pork/rice combination topped with some delicately breaded and fried cod. We loved both. Dining with an amazing view of the bay while learning about the area from the owners was certainly special. Open Studio is a culinary delight, and well worth the drive (or, conveniently, they operate a couple of vacation homes in the Grates Cove... ."

"The 4 of us arrived as b b guests left craving more of their 'beyond ' delicious food. We put our menu selection in the passionate hands of Terrence Courtney for dinner and were so glad we did . We enjoyed every bite. So much so we overstayed the following day just so we could enjoy the lunch, as we did breakfast. The accommodations were clean , modern spacious with an ideal location view of the harbour directly across. The beautiful village is quintessential Newfoundland the hosts are world class. Truly a unique combination."
