"Marked atmosphere down because when we first visited there was a dog in the restaurant that just wouldn't stop barking, this spoilt our dining out evening. "Visited with my elderly mum who has mobility difficulties. We had had a very difficult and slightly traumatic day and my mum and I desperately needed a sit down and a cup of tea and something to eat as we'd had to miss lunch as...well. We managed to park pretty much right outside as my mum has a blue badge, although there is parking for anyone for 30 mins. Not long but maybe enough for a cuppa and cake! The staff were very welcoming and friendly and extremely thoughtful and assured us that it would be fine to get a sandwich and a pot of tea even though it was 3.30 when we got there and they closed at 4pm. The food was lovely and fresh and the cake very good and we loved the way it was served on vintage china and a lovely proper tea pot with loose leaf tea. The tea was very good and plenty of it. They could not have been more helpful and considerate and definitely went the extra mile for us. Poppy's is a really lovely and beautifully decorated tearoom with some gorgeous vintage pieces as well as small gifts and cards. We felt it was a really special place with lovely people and lovely food and we will definitely be back now we've found it! Thank you to them for giving us a happy end to what had been a very challenging day for us."

"We enjoyed a delicious vegan brunch of homemade sausages, falafel hummus, with baked beans, mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes, homemade kartoffels and torts toast. the atmosphere was really cooled and the staff super friendly and helpful. impressed by the various options of plant milk we recommend the chai latte! too filled to try the cake today, but we will definitely be back soon"

"Lovely, slightly off the beaten track eatery, we were made to feel very welcome with excellent friendly service. food was excellent and received helpful pointers as to what dishes contained meat and vegan dishes etc. My perogi were great and the bortsch that my wife...had aas excellent. Very interesting location as well, packed with independent traders, two record shops and three pubs... : ... Well worth seeking out..."

"We ordered a takeaway, if we had eaten in I would have returned some of the food. Thai fish cakes, had a weird texture a bit like tofu no evidence of actual fish. They were not freshly made, more like the bought in frozen type. Pad Thai, noodles were stodgy and were clumped together..worst I have ever had, however the sauce provided in a little pot was delicious. Mussels were excellent, sauce was vey nice and green curry was good but very sweet."
