"Unbelievable! What a nice surprise! The meal at the restaurant was simply excellent, we couldn’t have eaten better. Friendly, helpful, pleasant and smiling staff. As for the hotel... Wahou! The room was spacious and tastefully decorated. Benefits of quality. Breakfast was as wonderful as dinner the day before. It was a good time, we recommend it!"

"Gundershoffen is about as quaint of an Alsatian town as you could imagine and a perfect setting for a Michelin star restaurant. This town oozes charm, my bed and breakfast down the street was full of charm, so it's reasonable to expect that the...fantastic Michelin starred restaurant in town would have the same charm. Sadly this is not true. Despite the charm of the building on the exterior, I found the contemporary style interior to be cold and completely lacking any warmth or ambiance. It would be easy to discount this lack of atmosphere if there had been any warmth from the staff, but this was not the case, at least in our experience. Our head waiter/waitress was aloof from her first visit to our table. She was curt and short with any questions our German hosts asked all night, whether pertaining to the menu or the wine. Based on the fact that we all ordered the Menu Saveur with wine pairings at somewhere near person, I found this unacceptable. But then there was the food: imaginative, visually amazing, with food pairings no normal chef would combine! Particular standouts were the foie gras trilogy, the langoustines and lobster. Each dish was more spectacular than the last. As each course was presented, it was like Christmas morning over and over again. Very clearly Fabien Mengus is an extraordinary chef, very well deserving of such Michelin recognition. If anyone at Le Cygne deserves to have an attitude, it's certainly him, not his staff! How sad it is that the staff at Le Cygne cannot work the same kind of magic in serving customers, enriching such a spectacular dining experience."
