While the lemongrass chicken sandwich and coconut curry soup fell short of expectations, the spring rolls and banh mi sandwiches received high praise. Vegan options may lack flavor, but the homemade vegan mayo and Buddha tofu banh mi sandwich offer tasty alternatives. Prices are deemed a bit high for portion sizes. The atmosphere is quaint and perfect for a quick meal or on-the-go snack. High points include the fresh ingredients, delicious banh mi options, and friendly staff. Overall, the restaurant provides a decent dining experience for those seeking Vietnamese-inspired cuisine.
I love the spring rolls here and definitely recommend them! However, I have some vegan meals from here and while they are good, they are not great. they could have more taste. would also recommend to ask additional sauce with the bowl!
Update: they have homemade vegan mayo now also my new fave is the buddah tofu banh mi sandwich! fresh and tasteful! there's something for everyone here before I got vegan, I loved the lemon huh banh mi sandwich, but now I'm obsessed with the early roll rice bowl! I always add an additional spring role to my meal to add a little more substance to it. I also find the noodles to be quite bland, but I love it, hoisin, sojasoße and sriracha on there to mix it to jazz! very clean and the staff is nice! I would call myself a parent. happy eating! xx updated by previous review on 2016-03-02
Ordering the buddha nudel bowl (tofu, sprudel, carrots, gurke, veggie earlylingsrolle, reisnudeln), with a pfirsich bubbletee. bubble tees and smoothies are made from fresh fruit (no powder.) directly opposite the road from the public gardens, which is a perfect place to eat to enjoy on a summer day.
Beautiful little popup type space. great for on the go. they offer some options that can be made naturally vegan or vegan. I have the Buddha scarf is naturally vegan. it has cut fresh pear sprouts, rice noodles, cucumbers, carrots, petersilie, tofu and an early roll. they offer 3 sauces with it, for a beautiful taste. it was delicious, fresh and perfect for a hot summer day. service was fast and great. they answer my asking to vegan option with ease. the Bio-Minz-Limonade was also delicious! definitely a great little spot.
Hours: Mon Fri 11:30 am to 8 pm; Sat and Sun 11 to 7. My family ate here twice during a recent trip to Halifax. The restaurant is located across from the Public Gardens, just up the road from the Citadel. There are a few seats indoors, and a couple of tables and chairs outside. The restaurant specializes in Vietnamese sandwiches made on fresh French bread and include a variety of vegetable toppings, including shredded carrots, daikon and hot peppers. We sampled both of the vegetarian sandwiches--the Buddha and the Veggie Meatball. The Buddha contains grilled marinated tofu and it was quite tasty. The standard sauce is mayo-based and does contain eggs, but there are other sauce options available. The veggie meatball sandwich contains homemade vegan tvp meatballs. These are very small meatballs that are marinated and not covered in tomato sauce. My children enjoyed the meatballs immensely and picked them out of the sandwich, leaving the delicious bread behind. The small restaurant also has a selection of fruit-smoothie based bubble teas.
