This is a no-nonsense welcoming canteen style diner. The food is great value and we couldn’t fault the price at £12 for two good set lunches. We will return when we are next in the area. View all feedback.

I was wrong. 3 huge sausages, 6 pieces of bacon, fried eggs, hash browns, mountain of mushrooms and beans and toast and mug of tea. I just wanted to say thank you for a wonderful Sunday evening dinner featuring delicious lamb, topped off with a decadent aero cheesecake for dessert. It was lovely xxx.
Seven of us were spending a week flying at the Yorkshire Gliding Club, Sutton Bank and on a rainy morning we visited the Gavel for Breakfast on a Club Member’s recommendation. If you’re looking for a full English breakfast this is definitely the place to go. Good quality nicely cooked breakfast, good portions,(you would have to be ravenous to go for the large), excellent value for money, good service and friendly staff. Look forward to going to try the lunch on our next visit.
Visited for a breakfast bun as it's next door to the vets. Let's dogs in. Great value and big servings. Friendly, cheery staff.
