What Edda Konrad doesn't like about Unter den Linden:
It is beyond me how a café can serve a hot chocolate made with baking cocoa powder.I know that some breakfast places does it because it it very cheap, but it tastes awful. The waiter got rude and started to argue too. Unbelievable! The hot lemonade drink would have been better too if it had not been served on a dirty table cloth at our arrival. NEVER AGAIN! View all feedback.
Quite a treat! Tucked away on a quiet street corner, Cafe unter den Linden provided a lovely outpost for breakfast and a few teas and coffees. In true Hamburger style, even though it was raining and quite cold by normal standards...everyone was perched outside. Luckily, there are blankets provided to keep warm or pad the benches, so do grab one if you plan on staying for a bit. I ordered something I 've come to really enjoy: the German brunch plate: salami, cheeses, butter, homemade strawberry jam, berries, and pate. I also ordered mine with a soft-boiled egg, mostly because I like eggs...but partly because I love the little dishes and spoons they are served with. I still haven 't QUITE figured out how to eat the egg daintily or without spilling shell all over the place, but I 'll learn. The best part? This plate was served with two fresh, warm rolls. Heaven. My cappuccino was on par, as was the hot green tea I ordered after shivering a bit. The people in Hamburg don 't seem to mind when it is raining and cold, but I am still adjusting! Total for my brunch plate, capp, tea and a few coffees...under 20 euros. This is a great spot to catch up with friends, grab a light lunch, enjoy the sun on an off day on their cute patio, etc. I 'll surely remember next time to order whatever the coffee drinks are that come in a bowl-size cup...it appeals to my American sensibilities!
Quite cozy place with not so many seats available. The coffee was delicious. They have different Breakfast Menus available from small to big breakfast for two persons or vegetarian Version. The stuff was really friendly. You can only pay in cash..
Cute little cafe, not too many seats so may be full. I have not eaten here, but I have tried the käsekuchen, which was *muah* delicious. I saw a lot of people (this is the evening mind you) having a glass of wine with their nose in a book. Looks like that is what I will be returning to do.
We enjoyed a light lunch here. Staff seemed very much uninterested in anything we wished (which was not anything unusual, e.g a fork or a glass). So that was a setback. The place seems popular nonetheless
Among the lindens there is always something going on, whether in summer, under those trees, or in winter at the heating! Here there are coffee specialties and delicious cakes, but in advance! - who comes too late has no longer the quality of the choice!
