I love this restaurant. The yum cha is amazing as is the a la carte menu. Classics like the steamed pork bun, taro duck, mango pancakes are beautifully done. Ordering "authentic" dishes makes the waiters nervous which colours my visits unfortunately. However almost all is forgotten once the food arrives. Life long customer. View all feedback.
What Margie Cartwright doesn't like about Emperor's Puffs:
The positives:
On a Sunday we were seated immediately and food trollies came immediately.
The pork ribs had tofu at the bottom which is a nice change and overall it seems a little cheaper than other places. There is seating out doors and Service was good, when we orders a dish it came out quickly
The negatives:
Food to me was bland and choices were a little less than other places. My partner doesn't like the ambienc... View all feedback.
Each time there's a line that's a 5 minute wait and you ask yourself "is it really worth queuing for?". Yes. Yes it is because they taste delicious once they come out FRESH (don't buy it and then eat it an hour later because it'll taste way worse). One of my favourite cheap places for a quick snack.
Eaten here multiple times and the experience remains the same. Very average food for expensive prices. $16 for average BBQ pork meat, small dishes nearly costing $7 each, and medium averaging $8. Not worth value for the price.Mango pancakes are meh. Siu mai is alright too. Cramped area with average service. Do I recommend it? No, not really.
Just went to have yum Cha today and tried a crispy lobster dish. We asked how much the dish was but the waiter didn't know. We found out the price when we paid which was $40 for a small dish....not happy
Please people you have to come here and try their beef brisket curry. The brisket is so tender it just melts in your mouth and the potatoes are out of this world. The curry is creamy and it was made to be lathered in rice. This is honestly one of Sydney's best dishes that I've tried. Everything else is neither good nor bad. The service is friendly. And it's a great location. Pro tip: ask for some emperor puffs to cap of your meal. saves you from lining up in the cold during the winter
Emperor's Garden is located in the heart of Chinatown and we came to the restaurant for Yum Cha. We ordered various plates of food, all of them being only mediocre. The service at Emperor's Garden was a huge let down for us. Staff were not attentive and brusque and we found this experience could have been drastically improved with better service.
