We were staying near Hubbards, NS for a few days and came here for dinner one evening.

Excellent stop when you are in the areaEther you are taking a weekend drive to the south shore or staying in the Hubbards area.

Stopped on the way to Lunenburg from Peggy's cove after the information desk lady recommended the food here.

"New owners this summer and I won't go back! We always loved the Shanty but the menu and the food has changed. I had the corn chowder which was an odd, room temp corn soup. It was bland and awful. My husband had fish and chips that wasn't cooked through so batter was gooey. If you are looking for waterfront dining in Chester area, The Rope Lift never disappoints! Focsle Tavern, Kiwi Cafe and Gold Bean Cafe are always good too!"

"Quaint little train station coffee shop, the girls and Dan are always upbeat, nice to walk in and they already have our order ready, the location can't be beat, rent a bike for the trail or take the dog for a walk, just a delightful spot."

"We stopped here after a long hike. The weather was warm and sunny so we took advantage of the outside deck. The food was delicious, the staff wonderful, spotlessly clean, a perfect place to unwind after the hike. Looking forward to our next visit."

"We were a group of 8. I called ahead to see if they take reservations and was told they did but only on the upper deck. So we made our reservation. But what they didnt tell us was they we could not all sit together. Their tables upstairs are bolted down and have no way of putting tables together. That's just bad planning!Anyways the service was good, the food was just okay. I was hoping for more flavorful dishes but what I tasted was pretty average. I had pan fried haddock with sweet potato fries, the presentation was not great and the fish was bland! My husbands Seafood Linguine was ok but his scallops were gritty.However, they did have an awesome Watermelon Blonde Ale that is a must to try!"

"We stopped by here on our trip our East. Ordered a lobster roll and a lobster BLT type sandwich, sweet potato fries were available as well. Everything was great. Prices were a little high but, what do you expect in this area. Coleslaw was excellent. Service was great, very friendly and attentive. Loved the views of the lighthouse. The gift shop offers so many lovely items as well. SO, chill and enjoy."
